This event is open to enrolled Bahá’ís only. Baha’is have no clergy—the authority in their Faith comes from the Baha’i writings directly, and through democratically-elected institutions. Every year during the celebration of Ridván, commemorating the anniversary of the day the Baha’i Faith began, Bahá’ís gather to democratically elect nine members of the community to serve in an administrative body called a Local Spiritual Assembly. Baha’is see the election as a vital spiritual duty. Completely void of any nominations, campaigning, or other politicized activity, during the election guidance is read, prayers are said, and votes are cast in a refined spiritual atmosphere. After casting their ballots, members of the community consult on what has taken place throughout the year and what needs to be done in the year ahead.
The Anchorage Community Annual Meeting will held at the Anchorage Bahá’í Center beginning with a potluck social at 6:00pm followed by the meeting at 7:00pm. People needing assistance with voting or attending can call 907-349-1844
